43 people were killed and 239 were injured on Thursday in twin suicide bombings that hit Burj Al Barajneh neighborhood in Beirut’s southern suburbs of Dahiyeh in the latest series of attacks targeting the Hezbollah stronghold since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict.
The first explosion occurred near a mosque on Ain Al Sikkeh Street and was followed 7 minutes later by a second blast, just meters away.

A statement issued by Islamic State said it carried out the attacks in response to France’s airstrikes in Syria and threatened further reprisals. All of the terrorists are now believed dead, most having blown themselves up in France's first ever suicide bombings.
